The kids pitch in

Cassidy Alla

Cassidy Alla

This lovely eight year old young lady, Cassidy Alla, crafted beaded bracelets with a little help from her mother specifically to collect money to donate to the Marblehead Animal Shelter for the animals. Her wares were sold at the Madam Had’em Boutique in old town Marblehead. You won’t believe how much she collected — over $1000! Cassidy is a very thoughtful and generous person and is an inspiration to other young people. The volunteers and animals thank you for everything you have done.
Parker and Camron Saltsman

Parker and Camron Saltsman

Young Parker and Camron Saltsman had a yard and art sale. Their friend Stella Egelza, who is not pictured, also shared in the venture. They made and sold crafts for the shelter and collected close to twenty-five dollars. These children have the right idea and their generosity has to be commended. This is the note they sent along with the money: “Dear Shelter, Here is some money for all the hard work you do for the animals in town.” The shelter volunteers want to thank you for your hard work.
Horribles Parade girls

Rebecca Purchase, Abby Thomas,
Heather Purchase, and Sarah Thomas

Sarah and Abby came up with the idea to make a float for the Marblehead Animal Shelter and enter it into the Horribles Parade. Each of them drew out a sketch which we combined. The girls asked their friend, Paul Jones, if he would help build it. Off to the dump and the swap shop shed to find cages, wheels, and other useful stuff. Sarah and Abby invited their friends Rebecca and Heather to join them. Rebecca St. Onge, Sarah and Abby’s mom, helped the girls paint the fabric for the sides and draw the sign, which hung above the float. The wheels and handle were from jog strollers, the axle was from plumbing pipes, and the top was plywood. The stuffed animals were from the girls’ rooms. All the children carried donation jars at the parade. Not only did they collect $240.25 that day, but they also got second place for most original float!

Over the July Fourth weekend — Saturday, Sunday, and Monday — their lemonade stand brought in a remarkable $104.63, all dedicated to our cats, dogs and other furry friends. Weren't they wonderful and unselfish to work so hard for all the animals at the shelter! The animals and the volunteers want to express their deepest thanks to Gabriel and Helena for their generosity. It will help pay for food and vet bills.
