Meggie Smith

The Lemonade Stand Girls

Late this Spring Hana Lombardi, Lillie Evans and Lila Weinstein started a Lemonade Stand with one goal: To help raise money to give the Animal Shelter a new makeover. Thanks to their Lemonade stands and a generous donation from Mark Driscoll, a local contractor in town, the Shelter now has a new look! The front of the shelter and the door have been painted, the weeds growing in the gutters have been removed, and flowers have been planted. Our thanks to Lillie Lombardi for overseeing the project, to Sheila Donovan and Betsy Tufts for planting flowers and for Chris Kruger for supplying the planters.

Hana, Lilly and Lila will be out this Fall (now selling cider and doughnuts) to help raise money to install a new window in the isolation room at the shelter.

Meggie Smith

Meggie launched a hugely successful
email campaign

Meggie Smith raised money for the Marblehead Animal Shelter for her 7th grade social studies do something project and for her Bat Mitzvah. She sent an email to everyone who was invited. Many people donated and the donors received a pencil with the Marblehead Animal Shelter printed on it and cookies shaped like dog bones. You would not believe how much she received? She raised $1,000! The animals and the volunteers want to congratulate her on her Bat Mitzvah and also thank her for her outstanding generosity! The money will go toward food and vet bills.

Jacob Abbisso

Jacob’s balloon animals helped ours

Jacob Abbisso, age eight, of Marblehead, is entering third grade at the Cohen Hillel Academy. He raised $50.50 on July 4th by sitting outside of the Java Sun coffee shop and making balloon animals for children. He asked for contributions for the Marblehead Animal Shelter. What a clever young man and a future business man. He plans on sitting in front of Mud Puddle Toys before the end of summer. The animals are very appreciative of your contribution, Jacob — thank you!
