Thanks, kids!
Faye with her birthday presents
Faye Haley is a fourteen year old young lady. She goes to the Charter school in Marblehead. For her fourteenth birthday she had a party and invited her class and other friends and all in all she had forty guests. Instead of gifts for herself she unselfishly asked her guests for donations to the Marblehead Animal Shelter. They went into our wish list in our website and donated mounds and mounds of supplies, food, and toys for the animals including fifty dollars in cash.
The volunteers and the animals want to thank you for your kind deed.
Michael helps out
Michael’s mother writes:
Our dog, Alice, was at the Angell Memorial in intensive care for four days. Our son, Michael, saw how much care goes into animal care. He decided to raise money for the Marblehead Animal Shelter to help out. He sold raffle tickets for 50 cents each for a bouquet of organic summer flowers. Michael is nine years old and raised $25. He really enjoyed helping. The animals and the volunteers welcomed his generosity and help. Thanks so much!
Lucia makes a difference
In a “Do Something Project” in Mr. Shull’s 7th grade Social Studies class at the Marblehead Middle School, Lucia decided to make a difference to the animals at the Marblehead Animal Shelter (F.O.M.A.A.). Through a lemonade stand and bake sale she raised $62 to benefit the homeless animals. The animals and the volunteers want to thank you, Lucia, for your thoughtfulness and generosity.
Anna VanRemoortel and
her brother Craig collected
$112 for the Shelter.
Anna and her mother, Dara VanRemoortel, of Marblehead volunteer at the shelter. In a newsletter for the Glover School Anna wrote this lovely poem about the shelter. Anna and her brother Craig also had a yard sale and collected $112 for the shelter. Not only is this family creative and thoughtful — they are extremely generous. They are a very special family!
THE ANIMAL SHELTER
By Anna VanRemoortel
Grade 5, Village School
They try to find a loving home,
To every animal that’s left to roam,
Around the streets both day and night,
The animals they find are full of fright.
The Animal Control brings them here,
To the Animal Shelter, do not fear,
Because lots of love they will share,
To all the animals in their care.
When someone opens the screen door,
Everyone looks over and hopes for,
A loving family to come in,
And find an animal that makes them grin.
When an animal is adopted they celebrate,
By hugging and kissing it as they put it in its crate,
That takes it to that loving home,
Let’s hope this happens to all animals that roam.

Will Steinberg, 7, Michael and Lena Weidenbruch, 9, and Stewart Hutchinson, 7, all of Marblehead Neck, organized a sale of homemade art, such as decorated boxes, visors, shells, lanterns and notecards, along with refreshments, and raised $110. They all love animals and wanted to donate the money to the Animal Shelter.
Benjamin Groth and Dodger
“My name is Benjamin Groth. I am Jewish and twelve and three-fourths old. Part of my religion is to do a Bar Mitzvah project. Since I love animals I wanted to help them. I am going to keep donating to the Marblehead Animal Shelter and help out.”
Benjamin brought into the shelter some supplies, food, and collected $100.10.
The animals really appreciate Benjamin’s thoughtfulness and want to thank him.
We had a merry Christmas, thanks to Kyra!
Kyra Veprek, seven years old, of Marblehead, received money from relatives for Christmas and she wanted to help an organization. She loves animals, so she donated cat food, cat treats, paper towels, and dog biscuits to the animal shelter. She has two guinea pigs, a fish, and a cat. Kyra is very good with animals, and loves to go horseback riding. The shelter volunteers and animals want to thank this unselfish little girl.
A happy birthday girl with a lucky friend
Meghan Tierney, who lives in Marblehead, had a ninth birthday party and invited fifteen guests. This unselfish beautiful little girl told her guests she really didn’t need anything for herself. She asked her friends to bring donations for the animals shelter instead of presents for her. Their generosity provided the animals with food, toys, litter, cleaning supplies, and money. The birthday girl loves cats and hopes one day she can volunteers at the shelter. Thank you so much from all the animals, and the volunteers look forward to the day when you can volunteer with us at the shelter.
Anna had a great yard sale
Anna VanRemoortel, who is eleven years old, her brother, Craig VanRemoortel, and her friend, Megan Holian had a family yard sale in Marblehead and collected an extraordinary amount of money. They collected $150 and generously donated it to the Marblehead Animal Shelter. To think these wonderful, kind, thoughtful, young children went to so much trouble to help the shelter animals is remarkable. The animals wish they can thank you personally, but we will do it for them — thank you so very much! The money will go toward vet bills and pet food.
A great birthday for Olivia – and the animals
Pictured here is an adorable, thoughtful, and generous little girl, who, in lieu of gifts for her eighth birthday, asked her guests to bring supplies for the animals at the shelter. This unselfish young lady is Olivia James from Marblehead. The animals and the volunteers want to thank Olivia and her guests for being so very nice.
A big-hearted birthday girl
There are very special people in this world and Kiana Rain Hawley of Marblehead is truly one of them. For her fifth birthday she asked her guests to bring donations for the animal shelter instead of birthday presents for herself. She brought in mounds of all kinds of supplies, food for the dogs and cats, and toys for the animals. How generous was that? Kiana is a petite little girl with a big heart. We all thank her from the shelter, including the animals.
The winners!
Haley, Kendall and Dylan deVries, Sally their dog, along with friend Sophie Forman, show their enthusiasm at winning the beautiful dog basket filled with everything a dog could want. The basket was donated by Marblehead Pet Supply.
Susie Mace and Paige Vigneron
These two remarkable young ladies raked yards in Marblehead and collected $31.50. Susie Mace, eight years old, and Paige Vigneron, seven and a half, are neighbors. They love animals and feel for them. They wanted to do something for them to give them food and pray they get forever homes. These two adorable and kind girls are to be given so much thanks for their hard work and ingenuity.
Anna Barrell
Anna Barrell from Marblehead had her nine year old birthday party. She invited twenty children and collected $106+ from her guests specifically for the Marblehead Animal Shelter.
She rescued a feral kitten two years ago and named it Freckles. Freckles was her seven year old birthday present. In honor of Freckles she wanted to donate that money to all the homeless animals in the shelter.
Anna is a very special young lady. She is also very generous. The animals at the shelter want to thank her for her thoughtfulness.
