Honey is a very special 13-year-old girl whose life has been turned upside down. She lived with an elderly woman for most of her life . . . a quiet, serene and peaceful life. Unfortunately her owner became sick and was unable to keep Honey. When the time came to bring Honey to the shelter, she was frightened and couldn’t understand why she had to leave her best friend. Because of her extreme fearfulness, netting her was the only way to capture her, which was very traumatic for her. We believe she was so stressed and heartbroken from being removed from the home she had known for so long that she became sick, stopped eating and lost weight. As she felt better we discovered what a sweet girl Honey is. She is now social, frequently greeting volunteers and visitors at the front door. Some days she even enjoys getting her belly rubbed! She is a beautiful girl who would love to curl up on your lap. We hope to find a forever home for Honey with a person who is able to give her a quiet home, lots of love and who is able to be around to feed her wet food at least twice a day. She would love to be an only kitty so she can be spoiled like she was before her person got ill. She would likely get along with another mellow cat.
